about me

Hi there! My name is Andrew Stevens Purdy, and I am a Broadway actor, singer, dancer, and educator represented by Douglas, Gorman, Rothacker, & Wilhelm (DGRW) Talent.

Born and raised in Massachusetts, the theatre has always been a major part of my life. Thanks to a “Broadway Kids” CD given to me by my parents, by three years old, I was belting out “Heart” from Damn Yankees, slamming buckets around the kitchen while lamenting that “It’s a Hard Knock Life,” and getting in touch with my felinity (despite being allergic to cats) while dancing to “Jellicle Songs for Jellicle Cats.”

I attended high school at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA. At Walnut Hill, I not only had the opportunity to concentrate on developing my craft, but I also learned what it means to be an artist. In 2020 (yikes), I received my BFA in Music Theatre from Elon University in North Carolina, where I was fortunate to receive exceptional professional training within the context of a liberal arts education.

Since graduation, I have been working consistently in both theatre and film, most notably in the Broadway production of The Book of Mormon and in the rom-com, Meet Cute, starring Pete Davidson and Kaley Cuoco.

Thanks to formative guidance from my mentors and educators, I am a firm advocate for the importance of arts education and have developed a passion for teaching the next generation of artists how to discover their own unique artistic voices. Throughout the COVID-19 shutdown, I served as a mentor to hundreds of young performers and their families at the NYC-based company, The Broadway Collective. Currently, I run my own private musical theatre coaching business, and have served as a guest instructor at institutions across the world such as Drake University, Dean College, The Shanti Bhavan Children’s Project, and multiple performing arts studios across the northeast.

When not performing or working with students, I also enjoy traveling the world, playing in the Broadway Softball League (Go Frogs!), and consuming obscene amounts of hummus.

Thanks for visiting!
